Not my finest moment
Apr. 24th, 2020 06:00 pmSo, Monday I was fine, Tuesday morning I was okay, Tuesday afternoon I started to show signs of a sinus bug - which is not unusual, I had one a month or so back - but I was getting fairly clogged up by the time I went to bed. And I was blocked up enough that I couldn't quite get to sleep and it was a bit of struggle to breathe if I lay down. And that's when I noticed that my chest seemed to be getting very tight. At which point catastrophe-brain decides "clearly coronavirus" and flies into a full blown panic. As any chance of sleeping had clearly disappeared, I got up and tried some Hot Lemon, and inhaling menthol crystals, and at some point in there noticed I'd added a stomach upset to the set of symptoms. So that was a fun night. I ended up playing a game on my Fire as distraction.
I finally managed to clear my nose enough to breathe more easily about 6AM and slept through until noon, and when I woke up I felt much better, and confirmed I wasn't running any sort of fever (why didn't I think to do that during the night?). By yesterday I was almost completely back to normal. It's just possible that I did have a touch of a chest bug, but mostly I think I had a bad case of panic, and probably a bit of trapped wind pressing on my diaphragm from breathing through my mouth due to being clogged up.
The sod of it was, I knew I was catastrophizing, but catastrophe-brain was all "Nope, not listening to any logic or statistics, we're dying here."
Brains, who'd have 'em....
