Mind you, so far it's been pretty much exactly what I thought from the moment they said what was going on - they couldn't get anything on the TV because they'd plugged the aerial into the DVR but not connected the pass-through cable from DVR to TV. Which they hadn't done because 'The guy in the shop told us it's not done that way anymore, it's all through the HDMI'. And he's right, if you're just using the TV as a dumb monitor, but that really ignores the whole Smart TV side of things. I got them to connect the aerial cable to the TV and it worked straight away (or went into channel setup and then worked if we're being precise).
I've left them to work the minutiae of doing it via the pass-through on the DVR, no doubt there'll be more calls to come....
