I was sitting in the back bedroom at the computer desk just now, which overlooks the main road, when there was a muted thump.

I looked up in time to see someone in a motorcycle helmet hurtle past at a dead run. As far as I can make out (the fence means I can't see the road surface, only upper torsos),  he must have dropped the bike coming around the corner, and either landed on his feet, or rolled up onto them, still travelling so fast he couldn't stop for another 30m.

He seems to have walked back, dragged the bike off the road with the help of someone else (passerby?) and then got into a white van that had stopped. He didn't look seriously injured, but he was moaning loudly, so I'll presume he was getting a lift to the hospital, rather than doing a runner.

We get one or two crashes a year on that bend, but that's the first time I've ever seen it play out in quite that fashion!
