Hot Lemon is not my preferred watching England play in the World Cup drink.

Though at least it wasn't Bud Zero.

I took the car for a quick drive this afternoon to make sure the battery is okay. Apart from a minute putting out the rubbish on Wednesday night I think that's the first time I've been out of the house in a fortnight. Of course after being a lovely day to start with it started to rain the instant I opened the front door. Only one set of Christmas lights spotted (in someone's tree). They're not actually the first Christmas lights I've seen this year, I spotted a possible set in an office when I was picking up a prescription round about the 1st of November.

The sinus bug seems to be easing slightly, though I'm still not feeling great for an hour or two after sleeping (I can't say 'in the morning' because of the randomness of when I've been sleeping). If I can kick it completely in the next day or two I'll be a lot happier.

Me, yesterday morning: Oh, thank god, that damned sinus infection seems to be easing off.

Sinus Infection, yesterday evening: Haha! Fooled you! I was just moving over from the left sinus to the right.

Plus I ended up sleeping 11PM til 3AM, then 9AM til 4PM which is less than ideal.

Bah, humbug!

I've spent most of the past couple of days in bed with some sort of sinus bug, so I'm a bear of little brain at the moment.

Get's to 6PM and I'm feeling a bit better, so I wobble through to use the net on my computer. Computer is showing the log-on screen, which means it's rebooted since I passed it mid-afternoon when I noticed the process that takes all night to run had finished and left the results to save later when I had more brain... The log-on screen probably means it installed a Windows update, but Kaspersky AV was telling me yesterday I needed to reboot because it had updated, so I did need to do a reboot at some point.

Firefox comes up as things reboot, and reports that it's updated as well, oh joy! Then the error messages start appearing. I think the Kaspersky stuff was just that I hadn't run through the 'Hello, am new wersion of Kaspersky" presentation and okayed everything yet, but I have no idea WTF is going on with Firefox, because about half the pages I try to look at are reporting certificate errors, and I know they're not valid because I can access the same pages on my Kindle, and in Edge (I hate Edge). On top of which it's the big internationally known sites that are falling over, not the individual user ones. I don't know if it's Firefox, Kaspersky or Windows, or some combination of the three and I really don't have the brain for this!!!

Me, Friday: Hey, today's three weeks since my second shot. Hello, full immunity! (Or as close as I'm likely to get.)

Me, Saturday morning: "I'm so tired I feel sick." Followed by a sudden lunge into the bathroom as I realise I'm not just feeling sick....

On the good side, it's not Covid, on the bad side, definitely another sinus/middle ear bug. (The feeling of things sloshing around my sinuses was quite distinct).

Spending six hours on the bathroom floor on Saturday was not part of my plan for the weekend - I was so sensitive to moving my head I didn't dare try to make it to the bedroom. On the plus side I did manage to catch up on my sleep.

I'm better today, but still having to be cautious about moving my head quickly, and looking down is completely out.

Meh...

It's been a week:

Monday: Flu jab

Tuesday: I feel knackered, probably just the jab

Wednesday: Ooh shit, head go spinny....

Thursday: Yup, sinus bug, excuse me while I spend a second day spontaneously sleeping

Friday: Okay, -ish. Still trying not to look down, but managed to get out to pick up my repeat prescription, and refill the petrol tank in the car, which was down in the last eighth of the dial - that's the first time since May or June IIRC!

I'm not certain whether it's just an anti-serendipitous coincidence*, or whether the flu jab distracted my immune system enough for the sinus bug to take hold (and I do normally get at least one per winter). But I still think getting it was worthwhile, just in case.

davidgillon: Text: You can take a heroic last stand against the forces of darkness. Or you can not die. It's entirely up to you" (Heroic Last Stand)

I'm not sure quite when it started, but I mentioned it in a post on the 15th of August, so it's now into its second month. Annoyingly it comes and goes, there are days when I have minimal symptoms, but then it pops back up. It went into hyperdrive a week ago and since then the thing I seem to be doing most is sleep. I've had the full gamut of symptoms - blocked nose, runny nose, sneezing fits, upset stomach, headache, a lovely couple of days where I was significantly deaf, and today a brief patch of vertigo - and annoyingly it's rotating through them randomly, so I have no idea what I'm going to be dealing with in a few hours, never mind tomorrow. It's not actually too bad in terms of feeling ill, it's just fatiguing and irritating.

If this is how my immune system is performing at the minute, then I'm definitely not going to let my coronavirus guard down! (I had my monthly ONS coronavirus test about the 30th, so chances of it being Covid are minimal).
