WTF, Kindle Fire?

 Tries to download an Amazon sample last night, "This is taking longer than expected, check back later."

So try to open up a book already on the Fire, immediate pop-up, "blah, blah, DRM, blah blah, please erase the book and download or buy from the Kindle bookstore"

What?

Try a different book, the same. And another, and another, and it looks like it's every book on the Fire.

Not impressed.

Not checked if I can access them on PC as yet, slightly nervous about that.

Fuck. That is the same problem I had. The EXACT SAME PROBLEM. They tried telling me to factory reset the device. THREE TIMES. I finally told them, slightly more politely than I'm phrasing it here, "fuck this, give me a new one." (They gave me a refurbished one, once they'd received the one having the problem.)

I have like fifteen screenshots to prove the existence of the problem. Here's one.

Apparently it's a common problem with the Kindle Fire HDX. The latest solution Amazon has come up for me with is "return the device for an 80% refund and buy a new one". I am displeased.

How about they fix the problem? That's what most software providers do when someone reports a major bug. Or replace it with a working model. Grr.
