Bah, the only thing total about the eclipse was the cloud coverage here in the South East!

Lighting changes were pretty subtle, in fact the most obvious effect was a distinct uptick in birdsong, which I remember from the 1999 total eclipse.

I noticed it more coming back to my desk after the 9:30 meeting (gah!) that everything was much lighter.

I probably missed the start due to falling asleep again, so didn't see it getting darker, just lighter, but the birds were definitely doing the twilight chorus when I looked.

Bugger all here in Bristol, in terms of lighting changes.

Except for me spectacularly twisting my ankle (and the ensuing failed saving throw vs gravity) on the final footstep before getting into a car.
