Now have wheels - Sunrise Medical Uni 8, which I think is even cheaper than the Action 3 everyone was predicting I'd get. Going to take it out for a test-drive in a minute or two.
Damn thing weighs a ton. I can lift it into the car, but just. Have been out and wheeled around Asda and PC World as a test drive. Good points: It fits quite neatly in the tiny boot of my Yaris,I could wheel around Asda and PC World despite the fact I could barely stand. Bad points: I'm not sure the barely standing wasn't due to lifting the damn thing (it could have been the amount of time stood figuring out what needed to go where before I lifted it, I'm genuinely not sure). Probable bad points to come: the ride over the bricked path outside PC World wasn't great, the ride over Rochester's various bits of cobbles is likely to be appalling - but that's an adventure for tomorrow.
Comment from a wheelie friend having read the blurb I pointed to "the best they can say is that it is solid and durable. Does this mean heavy as heck and turns like an elephant?"
Heavy as heck for sure, turning doesn't seem too bad.
