How?

I appear to have a cold/sinus bug/upset stomach. I've had zero unmasked contact with anyone in a month. {le sigh}

It started Sunday night with a stomach upset, but is getting more obviously sinus-y as time goes by - the sneezing fits being a bit of a giveaway. So I've been spending a lot of time dozing, in fact when my sister rang earlier I was startled it was 5PM, not two-ish.Though honestly it could be worse, Monday was the worst so it peaked early and is just taking its own sweet time tailing off.

She was actually ringing with good news, she saw a mention on her local facebook group that you could book Covid vaccinations if you are clinically vulnerable, which she is, got straight on it and got an appointment for 8:10 tomorrow morning at the local pharmacy, plus another in May for the second dose. That'll be a definite relief for when she has to go back into the classroom.

In other Covid news, apparently we have a confirmed Covid death (histological testing of cell samples) at the local hospital from 30th January last year, 5 weeks before the first acknowledged death in the UK. As that was an 84yo you have to presume it was already circulating in the community at that point. We're currently back above the national average on infections, having dropped below last week, but only at 102/100k (10 actual), vs the 850/100k we had a month ago.

I'd have to go back through my sizeable stack of links, but I recall seeing an article in a medical journal that firmly places UK infections in January 2020. Otherwise, everything else seemed... so innocent. A few cases, a few dire warnings, but we really did not know the scale of the thing it would become.
