Unexpected Hazards of Coronavirus Testing

Weekly ONS survey swab test this morning (not my ideal way to start the week)

I do the swab, snap the handle on the q-tip and put it in the sample vial.

The remaining half a handle is too long and I can't close the cap on the vial.

Try to snap the remaining stub, but I can't get the leverage and it just bends.

Go and fetch a pair of scissors to cut it off with.

Scissors work, but cut-off shard of plastic flies up and hits me in the cheek, just below the glasses.

Imagine the A&E report if it had hit me in the eye! Imagine the paperwork and the health and safety assessments for the survey!

I'm fine and I laughed too. It wasn't sharp enough or heavy/fast enough to do any damage to my cheek, but you still wouldn't want it hitting your eye and potentially scratching it.
