Lunch* in town. Had to laugh at the hulking guy at the next table over talking about maintaining older cars: "I used to fiddle about with the choke and the spark plugs. I had no idea what I was doing, but it seemed like the manly thing to do"
*Trout and crab salad with a poached egg. Not as good as the tuna nicoise salad it's replaced on the menu, but not bad. I'll be eating it again**.
** Though next time, hopefully without the side order of backache!

Date: 2017-10-10 02:25 am (UTC)In shops you're more likely to find tuna in a tin, but it's certainly possible to get fresh. I don't buy fish too often, but I picked up some fresh fish when I was shopping afterwards as the local supermarket had just marked down a load given it was late of Saturday afternoon: haddock, trout, and whole sardines. As I freeze stuff to defrost as needed, the limited shelf-life didn't matter.
But for the tuna nicoise salad at the George Vaults, it was a steak about the size of your hand and an inch thick - yum!
