Noticed a letter in the hospital's typical manila envelope in the mail.

New wheelchair! New wheelchair! New... nope!

It's from Ortho, not Wheelchair Services, cancelling my surgery date due to 'unforeseen circumstances'

I just confirmed the damned thing yesterday!

It may actually be my fault as I didn't initially spot the 'please ring and confirm date' on the letter with the date, so it's taken me over a month to do it. But that doesn't entirely agree with 'unforeseen circumstances', and it would be an oddly rapid turnaround as I left the message on their answer machine after 2PM yesterday.

Also: this reminded me that I had a hospital appt for 13 June that I hadn't put in my diary

(they rang me while I was in my psychologists waiting room, pre-appt, and then the psych appt wiped everything out of my brain)

so, thanks! I would have missed the appt otherwise.

Noo, I don't think that is your fault.

Even if you had forgotten to confirm until even closer to the date, I would still argue that that is not your fault, it is the fault of a ridiculous system that places way too much burden on patients to manage aspects of our own healthcare we have minimal control over. Umm, sorry, i gave an informal paper on the burden of healthwork yesterday, apparently it got to me.
