Serendipity, Toby Daye, Rosemary and Rue

 I've had a bunch of people saying how good Seanan McGuire's Toby Daye books are, and I've loved everything else I've read by her, so it was tremendously frustrating that there was no e-book edition (Casa Gillon is groaning at the seams with physical books), then I happened to check again on the 2nd, and guess what was released on the 2nd.... 

I've just finished Rosemary and Rue and it was just as good as I hoped, can I have the next one now?!?

I think I like Toby's characterisation best, she's a very, for want of a better word, human protagonist. Hurting, broken even, yet still committed to doing what needs to be done, even when no one else will. Other stuff I liked: the book's version of faery, which isn't really new, because lots of people have covered this ground before, but is solidly put together, with the evidence of considerable thought behind it; the solid characterisation of people who only cross our paths briefly, the Luidaeg, for instance. And the rose goblins :)

Toby's determination to do what has to be done even/especially when no one else will is the best part of her.
