I had fairly severe backache today (largely worn off at the moment), to the point that what I really wanted to do was go to bed and sleep it off.

What I had to do instead was wait for the guy coming to service my gas boiler, with his sometime between 12 and 6 slot.

So of course he didn't turn up. Or ring.

Grrr!

I also had an epic panic that I'd forgotten to renew insurance on the car, which was due on the 1st*. And I had, but the renewal is automatic. So I then panicked that they didn't know my up to date debit card number, so the payment probably failed. So I had to ring them to check whether it had gone through. And the guy on the other end confirmed that yes, it had gone through okay, but then added "but we seem to have sent you an arrears notice on the same day". So I had to wait five minutes while he tracked that down, to eventually tell me "oh, it was just the payment received acknowledgement." That is not the same thing as an arrears notice, people!

And it was only after I rang off that I remembered that my 'new' debit card was new at the start of last year, not this year, so they've had the right number for at least 12 months.

Grrr!

* I'd actually managed to convince myself it was due in February, but that's the road tax.
