... full lockdown until at least the February half-term, which is apparently 7 weeks.

I called it this morning (hardly difficult) and decided I should stick another Asda delivery order in for a fortnight from now. I'd normally be due one about then - it'll be three weeks from my last and I'm averaging two and a half between orders - but I was considering skipping as my cupboards are still full from Christmas. But given the difficulty I had getting any kind of order, whether delivery or click-and-collect during the first lockdown, I thought I'd best shove one in as there's no telling when I next get a slot. Sounds like it was a good idea, my sister tells me the Asda website crashed shortly after Boris addressed the nation. (Seriously, people? The food shops are staying open, you were happy to use them in person over the weekend, at exactly this level of risk, what changed?)

My sister also tells me that her school was the only one in the area to open this morning (and I saw a national news bulletin reporting there were at least 49 closed in Durham, which has to be a fair proportion of all the schools in the county), but she's still signed off as ill, so it was academic to her. She was still logged in to the staff chatroom, though, and the head quickly decided they were switching to vulnerable and key-worker kids only for Tuesday and going online from Wednesday. Which is again all academic as Boris has now said schools out for winter. They polled the parents to find out how many are key-workers, so able to have their kids still go in, and apparently averaged 18 per class of 30. Some of them are definitely taking the piss, one set of parents trying to take advantage are both hairdressers, and not only aren't hairdressers key workers, they were already ordered to be closed under Tier 4, never mind a full lockdown.
