Locked Down
Mar. 23rd, 2020 08:46 pmSo Boris has put the entire country into lockdown. I wish he'd done it on Friday, but better late than never.
I spent the afternoon working on a sensitivity read, I'll probably do a couple of hours more on it before I go to bed.
It's been a bright spring day here, so I pulled the patio table and chairs out of the shed and sat in the sun for an hour while I had my tea. I'm going to try and do that as much as possible so I get my daily dose of vitamin D while I destress. Talked briefly with my next door neighbour and remarked on how there were no planes in the sky. We're under the main route from London to the Continent, so that's unprecedented.
I've been reading Nichola Griffith's blog for a couple of years, and she's been talking good sense on coronavirus, but her latest blog, posted at the weekend, had a particularly good point for those of us who are wheelies. The standard advice to stay two metres apart is based on droplet transmission between two people face to face with their mouths at about the same level, but for those of us who spend life sitting, with our mouths at about waist level, the trajectory will carry droplets further, so make it three metres/ten feet.
There's also a lot of stuff in her blog about protecting yourself when you're medically vulnerable, and just in genera, so it's well worth a read: nicolagriffith.com/2020/03/22/covid-19-zone-of-control/
