Sliding blocks
Oct. 30th, 2017 08:06 pmSo I was getting ready to call Virgin over my current lack of a working landline, when it occurred to me anyone coming out to check it might actually need access to the phone sockets.
The downstairs socket is easiest, we'd only need to move the dining table, the couch and the sideboard (it's between the first two, and the sideboard needs shifting to move the couch and allow access past it), but if he needed access to the upstairs socket, ah, that could be a problem.
I don't think I've actually seen the upstairs socket in the last 5 years, possibly longer. It's tucked behind a bookcase in a corner of the master bedroom (which isn't actually the one I sleep in - the front bedroom gets the morning sun). In front of the bookcase are my financial stuff, plus an even larger pile of unfiled financial papers (and it turns out a large pile of magazines - so at least not as many financial papers as I feared). In front of the pile of papers is the bed. To move the bed I need to move the chest of drawers. And at least it stops at that point.
So today has basically been spent dealing with a very large sliding block puzzle. I've rediscovered the wall socket (and a completely forgotten phone handset) and the financial papers are, if not sorted, at least in a better place for me to access and sort them. This really needs doing as I noticed rather a lot of medical paperwork mixed in there as I was moving them. And the magazines are in a better place for me to sort and read. And upstairs is generally tidier and more wheelchair accessible if I have any days where that is necessary.
I may be back at this next week as I'm seriously considering moving the computer desk into the master bedroom, as it won't then be in quite such a cramped space/I'll actually be able to have the chest of drawers in my own bedroom.
In the meantime my body is sending out messages saying "I'll get you for this, see if I don't."
