Cinematic Dreaming
Sep. 27th, 2017 05:58 amI've been stumbling around in need of sleep for the last couple of days and 4 hours between 10PM and 2AM isn't going to help, but may at least reset me to being awake during daylight hours (and is handy as I need to get over to my GP's in the morning). The two hours of that on the couch did however lead to a dream in which I was being chased through a castle?/labyrinth?/secret lair filled with pseudo-medievalesque aliens/monsters. It had more of an action movie than a horror feel to it and I found it interesting that my brain is clearly composing scenes based on the norms of cinema - you had the stair chase, with the long shot vertically down the stairwell at the pursuers on lower levels, and the kitchen chase, where the pursuee is perpetually just that little ahead of the pursuers as they weave in and out of the hordes of kitchen staff. I'd guess the spark for it was playing XCOM and reading up on the Mass Effect universe, but the way the brain pulls stuff together from all sorts of disparate sources is fascinating.
