Good point!

It's just occurred to me all of the stuff around offing Emma Emily is even worse. The segment I mentioned where a Manticoran squadron is annihilated stopping a massacre of civilians, its CO survives despite multiple spinal fractures, being dragged out of the wreckage of his flag bridge by his injured female chief of staff. I can't fault the writing, I truly thought he'd killed them both (there's another salvo inbound). But he then puts his authorial thumb on the scales of fate and has them picked up by search and rescue, no matter they're in a damaged lifepod with no beacon. And then they fall for each other in hospital. And he actually does this twice, as the fiance of the sole surviving ship's captain also survives (minus a couple of legs) after having his ship blown out from under him.

So Weber is perfectly okay with a woman falling for a quadriplegic* male, but heavily signals a quadriplegic woman isn't a suitable life partner for one of his male heroes.

*Okay, the injury is temporary as regen works on him, unlike Emily and Honor, but there's that authorial fiat again.
