Date: 2017-02-07 12:46 am (UTC)I thought the overdue parcel I'm expecting, which is currently bouncing around between New Jersey and Tennessee (it was shipped from California, dammit! New Jersey's on the other side of the country! I'm in the middle!), was bad, but this beggars the imagination.

Date: 2017-02-07 01:47 am (UTC)What makes it worse is it's something I ordered almost a year ago. I knew it was pre-release when I did that, but didn't expect it to take quite so long to release. They started shipping at the start of December and I spent Christmas dreading it would arrive while I was away from home and be shipped back to the States. It looks like I ended up at the absolute end of the queue for shipping, and then it bypassed the missed delivery and went straight on to the shipped back to the States.
Twice.

Date: 2017-02-07 11:47 am (UTC)There must be other explanations for so many random and botched deliveries in UK, of course. ;)

Date: 2017-02-07 08:07 pm (UTC)(As a wee Texan, "New York" was "up there somewhere in the North" and I didn't spare it much thought. Then I married an upstate New Yorker...)

Date: 2017-02-07 08:31 pm (UTC)Original York is lovely, my favourite UK city.

Date: 2017-02-07 10:35 pm (UTC)Yeah, and vice versa for seeing the States. My sister's been a couple of times for work trips, Boston and somewhere flat in the midwest (looking at how the US does schooling), but my secondment to Boeing in Seattle back in the 90s fell through - that's why Graveyard Shift is set in Seattle, I'd already done the research.
If you ever do get to the UK, then London is the obvious place, and it has enough attractions to keep you going through a whole holiday, but there's a lot of country outside of that. Original York is small, historic (Romans! Vikings!), frequently picturesque, and still largely surrounded by its medieval city walls. So very much not like New(er) York.
