I'm expecting a parcel from the States, which I've been tracking using the USPS website. All I can say is I understand now why transatlantic shipping is so costly.....

What the absolute fuck?!

I thought the overdue parcel I'm expecting, which is currently bouncing around between New Jersey and Tennessee (it was shipped from California, dammit! New Jersey's on the other side of the country! I'm in the middle!), was bad, but this beggars the imagination.

I have a theory about USian geographical norms. Immigrants, especially from Britain, missed their birthplace and when they set up towns they named them after their hometowns. Consequently, USians don't know which city is where!

There must be other explanations for so many random and botched deliveries in UK, of course. ;)

This is true. As a wee Texan, it took me SO LONG to twig that "New York" was named most probably after an "old" York.

(As a wee Texan, "New York" was "up there somewhere in the North" and I didn't spare it much thought. Then I married an upstate New Yorker...)

I would love to visit the UK someday but $$$$. My sister says if we can ever manage it we should visit London together. (She's been; I haven't.) Regrettably, I know pretty much nothing about any city other than London, and London I only know a little about because my sister told me about her visit.
