My sister's husband is in hospital, and with the junior doctor's strike* joined-up care seems to have become an alien concept. There's a pre-agreed treatment if this side-effect comes up, complicated by it being split between two departments in two hospitals in two different cities, and no one on the ground seems to be aware of it, so she's headed into the hospital to bang heads together (hopefully not literally, but I did point out the matron as a potential escalation route independent of which doctors are around, and she reminded me we did get a result going that way after my Dad's stroke).

* I don't blame the doctors, I blame the bloody Tories.

And yes, I don't blame striking medical professionals. Like you, I blame the Tories. For Junior Doctors, what use is it earning £200,000pa when you're 50, when right now you're being burnt out by excessive rotas, your rent and bills are through the roof, and you can't afford to have kids, move to somewhere that's not a house-share, or whatever (unless you're lucky in where you're working - in most of the south-east, you're just as screwed as any other person who's not a higher-rate tax payer (though less screwed that junior nurses, hospital porters etc.).

Mission accomplished, thanks! She had the oncology consultant and two specialist nurses troop down to the ward her husband's in and assure her that yes, everything was now being done as expected. Actual story behind the scenes seems to be that the morning medical shift wasn't on top of things, and things weren't happening, but the consultant for that ward actually took over and sorted things out before my sister arrived.
