What do you mean it's Sunday?

Phone conversation with my sister today during which it transpired that I've been thinking the current day is tomorrow since at least Thursday, so thought today was Monday - in my defence I've spent most of the week in bed (or on the bed reading) with a heavy cold - mostly over it - and not really keeping track of what was when. I did read at least one newspaper article on the Guardian site that should have clued me in on Saturday - second day of the Barclays IT outage that started on Friday, but decided they'd made a really awkward job of describing it lasting into it's third day instead.

What? Me be wrong? Inconceivable!

Oh, ick....

I woke up this morning with such a strange non-taste in my mouth, slightly metallic, but also slightly not there at all, that I immediately thought 'Oh, shit!'. When I could barely taste freshly brewed coffee either I hunted out the last set of government issue Covid tests and did one, well actually two because this set is crap compared to others I've had and the first one left me with no liquid to drip onto the test strip. It came back as negative (so did the one I did at the weekend when symptoms suddenly switched from sinus to throat), but I should probably do a few more over the next few days, and definitely before travelling up to see my folks.

Taste now seems to be back to normal, thankfully, though I had to make myself eat earlier, I really had no appetite for anything but slurping coffee - I worked my way through a complete cafetiere full in the couple of hours after waking up.

The Call of the Wild

I was in bed reading last night when I suddenly sneezed loudly.

And burst out laughing when a fox answered me* with a good half-dozen screams from just outside.

I thought it would be long gone by the time I found my glasses and got up to have a look, but it was literally right outside, prowling up and down in the middle of the road (and the three inches of snow).

It stayed outside for a good five minutes so I had plenty of time to get my phone and try and take a pic, but unfortunately the camera insisted on focusing on the glass rather than the road, so there wasn't anything worth keeping.

* Those were the only screams I heard from it so I definitely think it was answering me.

It's bloody nithering out there....

I've just spent a quarter of an hour finally shifting the patio furniture into the shed for the winter (just in time given we're under an amber warning for snow on Sunday night) and it's bloody nithering out there  (cold brings out my inner northerner). Alexa is claiming it's 3C, but it's 3PM and the overnight frost is showing no sign of lifting so I think she's lying to me.

I had the usual problem of trying to fit four chairs, a lounger and the patio table and umbrella into a small shed already filled by the lawnmower, but brute force and ignorance triumphed in the end (literally, I had to shoulder-charge the door to get it to shut that last inch to let me get the padlock in place).

I think my breathing may settle back to normal in a half-hour or so (currently working on sinus bug number 4 since the start of October), but in the meantime I feel the need for comfort food and hot coffee, possibly with something in it!

State of the Cold

 I sneeze, therefore I am.

Feeling Somewhat Resentful....

Hot Lemon is not my preferred watching England play in the World Cup drink.

Though at least it wasn't Bud Zero.

Fool Me Once

Me, yesterday morning: Oh, thank god, that damned sinus infection seems to be easing off.

Sinus Infection, yesterday evening: Haha! Fooled you! I was just moving over from the left sinus to the right.

Plus I ended up sleeping 11PM til 3AM, then 9AM til 4PM which is less than ideal.

Bah, humbug!

Jet-lagged without the fun of the jet

Sinus bug continues bugging my sinuses, though possibly not to the extent of the back-end of last week when I felt like death warmed over. Sleeping through the daylight part of two separate days ('I had breakfast and then I went to bed' as I told my sister), means I'm completely out of synch with daylight hours for the first time in about a year. It's getting back in synch that's the bugger and I'm hoping that only having had 2 hours of sleep in the last 32 (and counting) may lead to some spontaneous dropping off.

in the meantime, *yawn*

I can't help feeling it's a litte premature ...

... when the first week of autumn brought out the first cold of winter!

It's not Covid, I checked, but I seriously contemplated that it was given the headache and the general meh! feeling I woke up with last Tuesday. The major symptom is a sinus headache, so it could be worse, but I could do with a little less being a bear of little brain this week.
