On a normal ward I'd have had a call button, and I could have pressed it so someone would come as soon as they were free, but the Recovery ward beds/trolleys don't have one (this strikes me as dangerous, so I'll probably write a letter). In the end it probably took over half an hour to flag someone down.
Eeep! Yes. Imagine if the issue had been "my throat is swelling up and I can't breathe properly"!
I went for an intravenous iron infusion the other day, and they didn't give me a call button, despite the risk of anaphylaxis or other adverse reactions (both described in the consent form you have to sign, and the nurse told me I was at slightly more risk than the average patient because of my seafood allergies.)
They did give the other two patients call buttons, at which point I realised call buttons were an options, and flagged down a nurse to get one for myself.
