Yeah, take away a lot of people's medication and they're going to have problems (I'd have a week max before opiate withdrawal kicks in), but it's something you rarely see a book discuss.

Speaking of opiates, IIRC it handled those reasonably too. Hollen's come off high dosages of oxycodone, but is perfectly willing to take some when needed. Compared to the horror of addiction you often see in US attitudes to opiates, that's positively refreshing. ETA: I had a look to find this, couldn't, then realised it's in the opening of Handcuffed to the Bear, they aren't identified specifically as opiates, just 'meds' but it's fairly obvious they are.
