Yeah, it's one of those things where the cost is unpleasant, but outweighed by the enjoyment. Sailing is great fun and you can easily arrange it so that little if any walking is required.

WRT traction, been there, done that in the past. Like a lot of stuff it seemed to help me while we were doing it without causing any long term change in my situation.
